STD PREVENTION
STD PREVENTION
Annually, more than 18 million STDs are diagnosed. Learn how to Prevent STDs with us. The following are the three ways you can prevent STDs.
Use Abstinence or waiting technique
Some individuals postpone their decision until they meet the ideal person, get to know their spouse better, or get married. For whatever reason, a person who does not engage in sexual activity is not at risk of contracting an STD.
Do Safer sex
Discuss STDs with your partner. Determine if he or she has been tested for or exposed to an STD. Discuss prior sexual encounters, as well as any injectable drug usage or sharing needles. Discuss your background honestly as well.
Use of Condoms
Make use of them whenever you have sex. Male latex condoms may help to lower the risk. Female condoms may also be used in place of male condoms.
STD vaccinations
Vaccines may prevent several STDs, such as Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, and some strains of human papillomavirus (HPV) that cause genital warts and cervical cancer. These immunizations are available at both the Denver Sexual Health Clinic and the Immunization Clinic.
